Beth Leonard serves as Chief Corporate Affairs Officer for the EmblemHealth family of companies. Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Executive Leadership Team, she serves as the senior-most leader responsible for ensuring enterprise alignment in messaging and actions from all external and internal stakeholders in support of the enterprise's mission and not-for-profit roots. Ms. Leonard is the Executive Sponsor of The Bold Collective, the organization's women's employee resource group and serves on the Diversity and Inclusion Council responsible for championing diversity, equity, and inclusion on behalf of our employees, our members and patients, and our vendor relationships.
Ms. Leonard's portfolio encompasses Marketing, Communications, Corporate Communications, Public Relations, Government Relations and Policy, Community Engagement, and Corporate Social Responsibility. She and her team drive strategies in support of the enterprise's transformation and growth.
Prior to joining EmblemHealth, Ms. Leonard was Executive Vice President of Communications and Strategic Initiatives at America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), the trade association representing the health insurance industry. Ms. Leonard's political background also includes extensive campaign experience. She participated in two presidential campaigns, holding several critical roles for John Kerry's campaign in 2004, and serving as the New Hampshire campaign manager for John Edwards' campaign in 2008. Ms. Leonard also managed the reelection campaign for the longest serving mayor of Boston, Mayor Thomas Menino. After the mayor's successful reelection, she was appointed Chief of Staff at the City of Boston's Redevelopment Authority and Economic Development Agency.
Ms. Leonard earned her master's degree in Political Management, Issues and Crisis Management, from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., while working in the government relations office of the American Cancer Society. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Developmental Psychology from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo.
