Michael O'Connell, MHA, FACMPE, FACHE is Chief Operating Officer of Stanford Medicine Partners, part of Stanford Medicine. The medical foundation has medical clinics, an accountable care organization, a Medicare Shared Savings Program, and an affiliated IPA network with 1,400 employees, 360 providers in 27 specialties, and 70 locations in the San Francisco Bay area. He provides executive leadership and strategic direction towards creation of a high performing medication foundation. He worked as a consultant with The Advisory Board Company in Washington DC, and at Cleveland Clinic in four different executive leadership roles. He has worked for health systems, hospitals, and medical groups throughout the Midwest in numerous leadership roles. He is on the Board of Directors of Medical Group Management Association, is past Chair of the American College of Medical Practice Executives Certification Commission, and has served in various leadership roles with MGMA, coaching and mentoring medical practice leaders in support of their professional development. He is a published author on healthcare and leadership development and has presented numerous times on a diverse range of healthcare topics. He is board certified in medical practice management, a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives and board certified as a Health Executive and a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Michael has a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Illinois and a Master of Health Administration from St. Louis University.
