John Kuehn is Vice President of Gas Supply & Trading and is based in Houston, Texas. He is responsible for Chevron’s global marketing and trading activities for natural gas, liquified natural gas (LNG), and liquified petroleum gas/natural gas liquids (LPG/NGL) businesses.
Prior to this role, John served as Vice President of Crude Supply & Trading and was responsible for global trading activities for crude oil and oversees trading, transportation, supply, and marketing of all major crude oil and condensate grades.
Previously, John served as the vice president of Strategy, Planning & Technology for Chevron Downstream & Chemicals (DS&C) and was responsible for strategy formation and business planning for refining and marketing, lubricants, and petrochemical businesses. He also led the DS&C process technology marketing and information technology organizations. He also served as the general manager of Value Chain Optimization (VCO) for the Asia Pacific region in Chevron’s International Products organization. In this role, he was responsible for optimizing crude supply and products placement within Chevron’s refining and marketing systems across the Distributive Areas of Singapore, Thailand, and Korea. Earlier in his career with Chevron, John served as the general manager of Crude Supply and Trading for the Asia Pacific region based in Singapore. He managed trading and operations teams responsible for the marketing of Chevron’s equity crude production from the Middle East and Southeast Asia, the purchase and transport of the crude oil supply for Chevron’s non-operated joint venture refineries in Asia, and the performance of third-party opportunistic crude oil trading. Prior to that, he served as general manager of Americas Crude Supply and Trading based in Houston, Texas, and as trading manager, Tengizchevroil Crude Oil Marketing, based in London.
John has served on the Board of Directors for GS Caltex Corporation and for ChevronPhillips Chemical Company.
John graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of New Orleans.
