Dr. Christopher Townsend is an Assistant Professor at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) in the Department of Clinical Counseling and Mental Health. He has been a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 20 years providing substance abuse, mental health and trauma services. Dr. Townsend has trained on various mental health topics nationally and internationally. Most recently he has taken the role of faculty co-chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee at TTUHSC. He has accepted an appointment to the National Board for Certified Counselor Board of Trustees beginning 7/1/21. Dr. Townsend is a graduate of Appalachian State University earning a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Community Counseling. He is a graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University where he earned his doctorate in Rehabilitation Counseling and Counselor Education.
