Casey Balio is a research assistant professor in the Center for Rural Health Research at East Tennessee State University. She completed her PhD at the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health at Indiana University, followed by a postdoc at the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at the University of North Carolina. Her research focuses on the intersection of policy, public systems, and health care including projects related to Medicaid enrollment after release from prison, repeated emergency encounters for opioid use, and governmental public health systems.
