Nicholas E. Kman, MD, FACEP is a Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC).
He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP). He completed his medical degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and his residency at Wake Forest University where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Kman is the Academic Program Director for the 4th year of medical school at the OSU College of Medicine.
He served as the President of Clerkship Directors in Emergency Medicine (CDEM) from 2014-2015. He has been the Co-Chair of the SAEM Medical Student Symposium and the Chair of the SAEM Education Research Interest Group. He was also a Fellow for the AAMC Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Certificate Program and has his AAMC Medical Education Research Certificate (MERC). Dr. Kman’s education scholarship interest is in curricular development. He has presented his medical education research both nationally and internationally at The Generalists in Medical Education (TGME), The American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC), The Central Group on Educational Affairs (CGEA), The Southern Group on Educational Affairs (SGEA), Council of Residency Directors in Emergency Medicine (CORD), Society of Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM), and the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE).
Dr. Kman’s clinical interest is in Disaster Response and Emergency Preparedness. He serves as one of the Medical Managers for Ohio Task Force 1, Ohio’s FEMA Urban Search and Rescue team and has deployed to Hurricanes Harvey (2017), Dorian (2019), Laura (2020) and Ida (2021). Currently, Dr. Kman and the Ohio State Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD) are working on a grant to teach Mass Casualty Triage to First Responders in Virtual Reality.
