Jessica Lee currently serves in the capacity of Reentry Services Administrator for the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC). In this role Jessica offers oversight to reentry services, inmate workforce development, substance use services including the Medication Assisted Treatment Reentry initiative and the Peer Recovery Specialist initiative, as well as inmate Veteran services. Jessica began her career with the VADOC in 2004 where she was instrumental in developing the first Cognitive Community Reentry Program in the nation. This program serves as the statewide model for intensive reentry. As the programs expanded, she promoted to Regional Cognitive Program Manager. In this capacity, she offered technical assistance to Cognitive Therapeutic Community Programs, as well as Cognitive Community Programs. She also collaborated with the Probation and Parole District Offices, along with numerous community partners and stakeholders. She has served as a statewide staff trainer, as well as inmate training specialist. Jessica co-chaired the Creating Safer Communities through Long Lasting Public Safety Committee, resulting in the four year Reentry Strategic Plan. Jessica has served on numerous committees for the Department addressing such areas as gender responsivity and trauma informed care in corrections. Prior to her work with the VADOC, Jessica worked in corrections in the state of Iowa for almost 10 years.
Jessica earned a B.A. Degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa with a double major in Sociology and Journalism/Mass Communications. She has been a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor for over 20 years and she has completed the Commonwealth Management Institute at VCU.
