I am Amit Bhowmick, a Ph.D. candidate at Advanced Materials and Liquid Crystal Institute, Kent State University. I have completed my Bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Dhaka, and my Masters's degree in Chemical Physics from Kent State University.
My research work primarily focuses on Liquid Crystal based optical devices, currently, I am working on large aperture tunable LC lenses. In going forward, I would like to see a potential industrial application of the tunable lenses which we are working on.
In my doctoral research work, I am experiencing various techniques and skills from the simulation part to the fabrication of multi-layer complex optical devices. Starting from design, I simulate the expected optical performance of the studied device through different simulation packages. Knowing the simulated optical performance of the studied device, I try to fabricate the device and characterize it. I try to correlate the characterized data from a built device with optical performance simulation data and analyze the different scopes. Finally, I try to make a demonstration of the studied device.
