Full professor
University of Barcelona
Barcelona, Spain
I’m Full professor at the University of Barcelona (UB), Department of Electronic and Biomedical Engineering, where from 2001 I head the Microelectronic Design group. My current position involves research as well as lecturing duties in the Electronic Engineering Degree. My research interests are centered in the development of novel device sensor concepts by means of integrating them in microelectronic systems. I published more than 80 articles in international, peer-reviewed, journals related to microelectronics. Overall, my published work has received more than 4000 citations. Additionally, I co-authored more than 200 contributions to conferences, with 19 invited talks in peer-reviewed international conferences. I hold the co-authorship of 6 Patented technologies and founded a start-up company (endoASIC Technologies, SL) that is now unfortunately closed. endoASIC activity was focused on the development of microelectronic chips for the capsule endoscopy market. As for the research management, I was the Principal Investigator in 3 European research projects, 9 national projects, 16 R&D contracts with industry and 1 teaching innovation projects, all devoted to application-specific microelectronic design, and microsystem integration. My research was amazing, having participated in the production of the smallest micro-robot ever achieved (European project ISWARM), the first endoscopic capsule that can be controlled by the Doctor inside the human digestive tract (European project VECTOR), or a chip-sized microscope (European project ChipScope), which I coordinated.
