In this article we will address future challenges to enable next generation displays and the connected requirements for hole transport materials. These requirements induce new measurement and simulation techniques as well as new molecular properties to be considered in material design concepts. Pixels cross talk will be one focus of this article as it is of increasing interest with higher resolutions and the rising relevance of tandem architectures in OLED applications. This development is a paradigm shift in the material development as not only forward charge transport needs to be considered but also lateral conductivity is of high technical relevance.
