Aledia has developed GaN-on-Silicon nanowire-based LEDs for 10 years up to mass production and is preparing first RGB LED product introduction. This paper reviews the recent progress of this unique technology specificities, forces and limitation while presenting main performance achievement and further capability. Manufacturability, using conventional microelectronic facilities and, key to cost competitiveness, scalability to 300mm wafer size demonstration will be presented. Then, first commercial product will be shortly described to introduce Aledia views on how this technology will progressively reach the requirement of most demanding display applications.
