The latest achievements of GaN-based laser diodes are summarized, focused on two topics: watt-class high-power edge-emitting lasers and milliwatt-class vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers. These light sources have high efficiency and high reliability, which are suitable for various display applications such as laser projectors and/or AR/VR displays.
