AlGaInP red semiconductor laser diodes have been used in various applications such as sensors, optical disks, printing devices since achieving continuous wave operation in 1985. In recent years, red lasers have been applied to display applications, and red lasers have contributed to the realization of high-definition and high-brightness displays and display devices utilizing the features of laser diodes. In this report, current and future development of high-power red laser diodes for display applications is provided.
