The expansion of display color gamut emerging from 3 primary colors (RGB) verses innovative solutions of multi-primary color Yxy, provides large increased color gamut area throughout the entire video workflow. Identification of the added color wavelengths optimized to perception of the human visual system creates a display with compelling appearance. Expanded color gamut more closely recreates the colors of the natural world. An approach has been developed to encode true colors at a reduced bandwidth and build an infrastructure enabling a shift from the relative RGB triangle to a multi-primary system assuring exact colors from source to display.
