In organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), charge accumulation inside the device is the critical factor affecting the performance. Especially, its amount (Qacc) below threshold voltage is determined by polarization charge, which is induced by the spontaneous orientation of polar molecules, such as Alq3 and TPBi. We recently reported that the Qacc in TPBi-based bilayer device is increased by light irradiation during TPBi deposition. In this study, we found that the light irradiation enhances the current efficiency of the device. This result suggests that the application of light irradiation is a useful process for realizing high-performance OLEDs.
