This session will focus on reducing complications around dental implants. Short-term problems will be addressed as well as long-term problems based on almost 50 years of experience.

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

Discuss the adverse effects of local irritants around implants.
Recognize that bone loss around implants may be due to positioning and bone quality at time of placement.
Recognize that bone loss can occur years after implant placement and can be decreased with appropriate treatment and planning.
