Dr. Smith received her BA from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts in 1990 and received her DDS from Columbia University in New York City in 1994. She completed a combined degree oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at University of Pittsburgh, completing residency in 2001 and receiving her medical degree in 1999. She received her Master’s in Clinical Research from Oregon Health and Science University in 2015.
Upon graduation from residency, she went on Active Duty in the Army and was stationed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, serving as a clinical faculty member from 2001 to 2008. From 2008 to 2016, she was a faculty member in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Oregon Health and Science University. She was an oral surgeon in the corporate sector from 2016 until 2021 when she opened her private practice. Dr. Smith is a solo practitioner at Blue Lake Oral Surgery in Gresham, OR, where she enjoys a full scope practice.
Dr. Smith served as a commissioner on the Oregon Board of Dentistry, and was also a Board examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for 8 years. She has lectured extensively in areas of medicine and anesthesia and has published in this area as well.
When not working, Dr. Smith is an avid cyclist and racer and loves to spend time with her husband and daughter.
