Dr. Charles W. LeHew is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, College of Dentistry, University if Illinois Chicago (UIC). He is a program evaluator and investigator with extensive experience developing, implementing, and evaluating cancer control programs in community settings.
His work has emphasized collaborations across health care disciplines and with community partners to improve access to care for adult and pediatric populations and to improve oral-health outcomes. Most recently he led a team of investigators from UIC, the University of Chicago Survey Lab, and community partners in an audit study of access to restorative dental care for pediatric patients with Medicaid insurance in Illinois.
Dr. LeHew is the Director of Research for the residency program in pediatric dentistry at UIC and generally oversees all resident research projects in the department. He teaches research methods and statistics throughout the College's several residency programs, and he provides statistical and methodological consultations for students and colleagues on a range of oral health research projects including clinical trials.
