Dr. Collier received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University. He completed Pediatric residency and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center before returning to Vanderbilt University as junior faculty. He left Vanderbilt in 2009 and spent 4 years at Lehigh Valley Hosptial and Health System before moving to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in 2013. He was promoted to Professor of Pediatrics and Division Chief of PEdiatric Hematology Oncology. In 2022, he received the D. Jeanette Pullen Chair of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. Dr. Collier has a long standing clinical and research interest in bone sarcomas. He is current the bone tumor lead Children's Oncology Group ADVL1921/Pfizer A5481092 for recurrent or refractory Ewing Sarcoma. He also serves on the COG bone tumor steering committee. In addition to bone tumors, Dr. Collier is developing a research program to evaluate health disparities in childhood cancer in Mississippi. At UMMC he directs the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology program that includes 9 physicians, 1 PhD psychologist, 3 nurse practiotioners, 4 oncology research nurses, and 3 sickle cell research nurses. They have over 70 active clinical trials for childhood cancer and the largest pediatric sickle cell program in the United States. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, playing guitar, and playing paintball with his son.
