Julia Visgauss is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery, specializing in orthopedic oncology at the Duke Cancer Institute, in Durham, NC. Julia received her Bachelor of Science at New York University, after which she completed medical school at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD and her residency in orthopaedic surgery at Duke University in Durham, NC. Dr. Visgauss received her fellowship training in musculoskeletal oncology at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, ON Canada. She has extensive training in invasive surgical techniques including resection of extremity and pelvic tumors, limb salvage surgery, and mega-prosthetic and custom implant reconstructions. She enjoys all aspects of orthopedic oncology including surgery, pathology, and research, but most of all she values the relationships she develops with her patients. Julia is passionate about sarcoma research and spends time in the lab two days each week where she focuses on understanding and finding treatments for metastatic disease in sarcoma.
