NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery
Translational and Clinical Research Institute, Newcastle University, UK, United Kingdom
I work within the Translational and Clinical Research Institute at Newcastle University, with research interests in the basic science of musculoskeletal oncology, fluorescence guided surgery, and the development of novel targeted imaging agents for sarcoma. I have recently commenced my orthopaedic surgical training as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in the North East of England.
I graduated from Newcastle University Medical School (MBBS), United Kingdom, in 2020. I also completed an intercalated research Master's degree investigating the role of MT1-MMP in sarcoma cell invasion. Following this project, I have collaborated with other research teams to develop MT1-MMP based probes. I completed the academic foundation programme at the Newcastle upon Tyne NHS Hospitals Foundation Trust, investigating mechanisms of ICG cellular uptake in the context of fluorescence guided sarcoma surgery, and worked on the SarcoSIGHT grant application. Following the funding of this trial, I am continuing to work on the mechanistic elements of ICG based FGS, whilst also investigating novel near-infrared imaging modalities for clinical translation.
