Dr. Brian Schulte is a hematologist-oncologist who cares for patients with sarcomas, rare cancers that develop in connective tissues (such as bone, muscle or cartilage), and has particular expertise in gastrointestinal stromal tumors. After earning a bachelor's degree in engineering at Duke University, Schulte earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. He completed a fellowship in hematology-oncology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where he served as chief fellow. Since joining UCSF, he has grown their clinical trial portfolio and significantly expanded their clinical operation. In light of his accomplishments, he was made the medical director of the sarcoma program.
