Dr.Ghert’s research focuses on multi-center international randomized controlled trials. She is the Principle Investigator for the Prophylactic Antibiotic Regimens in Tumor Surgery (PARITY) trial in which investigators from 55 sites across 12 countries randomized 611 bone tumor patients to different post-operative antibiotic durations following endoprosthetic reconstruction of the femur or tibia. The study results were announced in October 2021 and the manuscript is in press (as of October 2021) at JAMA Oncology. Dr. Ghert is also leading the Surveillance After Extremity Tumor Surgery (SAFETY) trial in which soft-tissue sarcoma patients are randomized to more or less intense surveillance following treatment to determine the effect of surveillance on overall long-term survival. The SAFETY trial opened to enrolment in 2020 and patients are currently being enrolled across clinical sites in Canada, the US, South America and Europe.
