Post-Doctoral Fellow
University of California, Los Angeles
Dr. Chris Hamad earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2021. Following medical school, he pursued a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Orthopaedics at UCLA, his alma mater, where he has been using translational mouse models of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) to study various preventative and therapeutic modalities in the setting of implant associated infections. He was awarded an NIH T32 Training Grant to characterize the local immune microenvironment in mouse and human PJI and identify potential immunotherapies to help facilitate the eradication of these chronic infections. Outside the lab, Dr. Hamad enjoys being active and training in taekwondo, dry aging beef, cooking/grilling, playing acoustic guitar, travelling, and spending time with family and friends.
