Brett Levine, MD, began considering medicine as a career in college when he volunteered at Georgetown University Hospital. Soon he was hired as an orthopedic technician and eventually went on to a career as an orthopaedic surgeon. He went to American University for undergraduate and completed a BS in Chemistry and graduated with honors. After a one year Masters program in Physiology and Biophysics he enrolled at Georgetown University School of Medicine for his doctorate. He then completed his residency at New York University-Hospital for Joint Diseases. After a fellowship in adult reconstruction at Rush University Medical Center, he joined a private practice in Peoria before returning to Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, where his focus is on primary and revision hip and knee replacements.
Dr. Levine served as the associate residency director for 3 years and then the program director for 3 years. He is an active participant in research, resident and student education and serves as the faculty liaison for the Orthopaedic interest group at Rush. He has an active role in the residency and fellow selection process. He serves on the MAOA education committee and is the deputy editor for Arthroplasty Today. He is an active member of the AOA, AAOS, Hip Society, Knee Society, MAOA and ORS.
