Hazem Wafa, MD, MSc, PhD, FRCSEd (Tr&Orth), is Head of Clinic in orthopaedic oncology and knee surgery at Leuven University Hospitals, Belgium. He qualified in Egypt in 1997, obtaining his PhD in orthopaedic oncology in 2008 and the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in trauma and orthopaedic surgery in 2013. He completed orthopaedic oncology and lower limb arthroplasty fellowships at the world renowned Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham and Instituto Ortopedico Rizzoli, Bologna. He worked as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham and Glasgow Royal Infirmary before moving to Belgium in 2017. He is an author and reviewer for multiple leading international orthopaedic journals. He has specialist interest in the management of bone and soft tissue tumours, complex pelvic reconstructions, and revision knee arthroplasty. He is a member of the International Society of Limb Salvage (ISOLS), European Musculoskeletal Oncology Society (EMSOS), and the Belgian Sarcoma Group (BeSG).
