Section Translational Cancer Epigenomics, Division of Translational Medical Oncology
National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) Heidelberg and German Cancer Research Center, Germany
I studied medicine at the Universities of Heidelberg (Germany) and Madrid (Spain) and completed my training in Internal Medicine and in Hematology/Oncology at the University Medical Centers of Ulm, Mainz and Magdeburg (Germany). In 2011, I took up a postdoctoral position within the Division of Epigenomics and Cancer Risk Factors at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) under the guidance of Prof. Christoph Plass. In 2015 I started a research group ("Regulation of Cellular Differentiation”) at the DKFZ and in 2019 I became head of the "Section Translational Cancer Epigenomics" at the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) Heidelberg and the DKFZ.
My research focuses on the identification and functional characterization of epigenomic aberrations in hematologic and solid malignancies in order to develop diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers and to identify novel therapeutic targets.
