Anna Małgorzata Czarnecka is a full professor of medical oncology at the Department of Soft Tissue/Bone Sarcoma and Melanoma of the Maria-Sklodowska Curie National Research Institute of Oncology in Warsaw and molecular biology expert at the Department of Experimental Pharmacology of the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Medicine of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In the years 2009 - 2017 she worked in the Oncology Department of the Military Medical Institute in Warsaw and was also the head of the research teams of the Molecular Oncology Laboratory. She served as the Deputy Director of the NIO-PIB for Research (2020 - 2021). She obtained PhD (2010) based on the thesis “Tumors as mitochondrial disorders” and DSc degree with a series of publications entitled: "Clinical and molecular markers of the effectiveness of treating renal cell carcinoma with tyrosine kinase inhibitors". In addition, she is a graduate of Master of Business Administration (MBA) studies, Innovation Management in the Health Sector (Kozminski University, Warsaw) and Innovation Management (Warsaw School of Economics), and Biostatistics - Basics of Statistics in Medical Research (Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University, Krakow). She gained scientific experience at the Department of Genetics of the University of Warsaw, Department of Urology Emory School of Medicine (Atlanta, USA), Dipartimento di Medicina Sperimentale Universite degli Studi di Palermo (Palermo, Italy), Universitätsklinik für Kinder- und Jugendheilkunde, Paracelsus Medizinische Privatuniversität (Salzburg, Austria), Gene Function Research Center National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (Ibaraki, Japan). Winner of many awards including the Junior Faculty Merit Award of the International Society of Oncology and Biomarkers, Mentoring and START Programs of the Foundation for Polish Science, Supertalent in Medicine, L'Oreal Scientific Scholarship for Women and Science, Warsaw Scientific Society prize, as well as a scholarship from the Goldman Sachs Foundation, Kościuszkowska and Fulbright Foundations.
