Dr. Shontelle Millar attended medical school at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Cave Hill Campus in Barbados, graduating in 2014. Upon completion of internship at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados, Shontelle transitioned into the public and private health care systems in the island working across several polyclinics and family practice clinics. It was here that her love for family medicine strengthened as she provided care to a wide cross section of patients. Given this, she applied to the Family Medicine residency program and was accepted into the distance family medicine program at UWI Cave Hill in 2019. She completed her DM in Family Medicine in December 2021 with a distinction at the Masters level. She also holds a BSc with First Class Honors in Chemistry and Mathematics from the University of the West Indies. She is an associate lecturer with the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus. Shontelle is keen on participating in and spearheading medical research across a wide array of topics including but not limited to cancer research, physician mental health and women’s health. Currently, she continues to practice family medicine across the public and private health care sectors in Barbados where she strives to provide the best care possible for all patients with whom she interacts.
