Dr McCabe is a clincial senior lecturer at the University of Manchester and a paediatric onologist at the Christie Hospital, Manchester. Although a paediatric oncologist by training, he now primarily looks after young adults aged 16 to 24 years with bone and soft tissue sarcomas and brain tumours. His active research projects focus on clinical problems related to his patient population. He is chief investigator of the rEECur phase II/III trial of chemotherapy for recurrent and refractory Ewing sarcoma and chairs work package 2 of the FOSTER osteosarcoma consortium, related to actionable molecular alterations in patients with osteosarcoma. In addition, he leads the BRAINatomy programme, a collaboration between the University of Manchester, St Jude Childen's Research Hospital and University of Gronigen, developing an anatomical atlas of radiation damage during childhood and young adult brain radiotherapy. He is the clinical lead for childhood, adolescent and young adult cancers for the English national cancer registry.
