Dr. Shulman is an Instructor in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and an attending Pediatric Oncology and the Sarcoma Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. His primary research interests include development of novel therapies and precision biomarkers for patients with bone sarcomas. As an undergraduate and medical student, Dr. Shulman focused on health care system development in rural resource poor settings, particularly Malawi and Rwanda. As a resident in the Boston Combined Residency Program in Pediatrics, he began a series of clinical research projects relevant to pediatric oncology. Dr. Shulman completed his fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center in 2019. During that time, he began research focused on development of early phase clinical trials the use of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with Ewing sarcoma and osteosarcoma. Dr. Shulman’s current research program focuses on development of early phase clinical trials of novel agents relevant to sarcoma and advancement of molecular biomarkers for clinical use in sarcomas. Dr. Shulman’s career goal is to become an independent investigator in pediatric oncology with a research and clinical focus on improving outcomes for adolescents and young adults with sarcomas.
