Dr. Carol Swallow is a surgical oncologist specializing in the management of abdominal sarcomas and advanced gastrointestinal cancers, working in the Department of Surgical Oncology at Princess Margaret Hospital, and the Division of General Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto. Dr. Swallow is RS McLaughlin Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto and was previously the Bernard and Ryna Langer Chair of General Surgery at the University of Toronto from 2014-2022. She is an associate member of the Lunenfeld Tanenbaum Research Institute, Sinai Health System, and a professor in the Department of Surgery and Institute of Medical Science at the University of Toronto, with a cross appointment to the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology. Dr. Swallow serves on the Editorial Board of the Annals of Surgical Oncology, as Section Editor, Sarcoma. Dr. Swallow’s research interests focus on cancer cell invasion and metastasis, including the cellular behaviours that lead to tumour seeding and recurrence after curative resection.
