Alexandra (Alex) K. Callan M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and a Dedman Family Scholar in Clinical Care at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in musculoskeletal oncology, serves a chief of orthopaedic oncology, and is a member of the Multidisciplinary Sarcoma Program at UT Southwestern, Parkland, and Children’s Health.
Dr. Callan earned her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. She completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Vanderbilt University and received advanced training in orthopaedic oncology through a fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center. She joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2017.
Dr. Callan’s clinical and research interests include outcomes in orthopaedic oncology, limb salvage techniques for osteosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma, metastatic bone disease, and quality of life in musculoskeletal oncology. She has a special interest in teaching residents and medical students.
