Student Centered Field Education: The Signature Pedagogy Through a Social Justice Lens

Learning Objectives:

• Upon completion the participant will be able to demonstrate an increased understanding of employment-based field placements and how they have evolved as a result of the flexibility offered to students during the Covid-19 pandemic.
• Upon completion, the participant will be able to discuss 2022 EPAS standard 3.3.7 and the challenges that field education teams may face when a student is considered both learner and employee simultaneously, as well as challenges that can arise when field instructor and employment supervisor are the same individual.
• Upon completion, the participant will be able to describe the ways in which changing the employment-based placement standard falls in line with the NASW Code of Ethics by framing it as an issue of social justice.
