Kate Beemer, MSW, LSWAIC - Focusing on pediatric suicide prevention, Kate currently works as a Mental Health Therapist Associate at Seattle Children's Hospital where she conducts assessments, develops safety plans and supports families as they navigate children's emerging or ongoing suicidal ideation. Kate earned her MSW from Smith College and is working towards an independent licensure in the state of Washington. She has worked in a therapeutic elementary school, as an in home wraparound clinician for children with disruptive behaviors and or suicidal ideation and as a mental health evaluator in an adult Emergency Department. In these roles, Kate developed an interest in supporting the whole family system as children live with suicidal thoughts. Kate has drawn on her experience at Smith working closely with mentor, Dr. Crocetto, to better understand and incorporate a trauma informed approach in this work. Kate is interested in further exploring the intersections of childhood trauma and suicidal ideation as a means to better support strained family systems.
