Dr. Akbar's extensive practice experience has reflected her commitment and passion for child welfare and families who have been impacted by trauma. Her work has primarily focused on children and families, providing clinical services in various settings including community mental health and child welfare agencies. Currently Dr. Akbar serves as an Assistant Professor of Graduate Social Work at West Chester University where she teaches specialized practice methods, mental health/mental illness, as well as two electives she recently developed, one on the intersection of social media and social movements and one on Radical Social Justice.
