Charles P. Hoy-Ellis earned his BA in Psychology at Seattle University and completed his MSW at the University of Washington in 2004. Subsequently, he worked at SeattleCounseling Service for Sexual Minorities where he provided services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) individuals, families, and groups as a psychotherapist, substance abuse counselor, and HIV-Specialist. His doctoral scholarship in social welfare focused on minority stress, health and mental health disparities among LGBTQ older adults, informed by the intersections of identity and aging in a heteronormative society. He is currently a Research Scientist with the Caring and Aging with Pride: National Health, Aging, and Sexuality Study (NHAS). This first ever federally-funded national study of health and wellness among LGBTQ older adults and their caregivers is housed within The Goldsen Institute at the University of Washington, Seattle..
