Lalit Khandare is an Assistant Professor and Director of the MSW Program at Pacific University, Oregon. He has completed Ph.D. from Indiana University. He has M.A. in Social Work (Tata Institute of Social Sciences) and Master of Philosophy. in Planning and Development (Indian Institute of Technology Bombay). Khandare’s doctoral thesis was focused on “Domestic Violence and Empowerment: A National Study on Scheduled Caste Women in India.” He is engaged in research and publication in the area of housing, urban redevelopment, domestic violence, and discrimination based on caste & color, and challenges of social inclusion. He has taught courses in B.S.W. and M.S.W. program at Indiana University in the area of statistics, research, social policy, and field practicum. Khandare has worked with national and international agencies in the area of criminal justice reforms, public housing, homelessness, public health, family & child care, slum-redevelopment, rural development, and urban governance. He has presented his work at various universities and conferences in USA, India, Peru, Germany, and UK. His research has received particular attention at global symposiums and conferences at U.K. Parliament, World Bank, Berlin Urban Roundtable, and Oxford University Poverty & Human Development Initiative.
