I serve as Professor of Social Work and BSSW Program Director at Minnesota State University, Mankato, where I teach social welfare policy, research methods, and community & organizational (macro) practice. My research areas include improving rural behavioral health labor force challenges and rural community development addressing needs in rural health care policy, education, and social connectedness.
I have served as President and Treasurer of the National Association for Rural Mental Health (NARMH), a national advocacy group focused on improving the lives of rural residents and their families addressing behavioral health and addictions. In this capacity, I have advised multiple federal agencies and members of Congress on ways to better address these concerns through policy development and advocacy. I currently serve on the CSWE National Nominations Committee.
