Susan Nakaoka is an Assistant Professor at the School of Social Work at California State University Long Beach. Susan received her doctorate in Urban Planning from UCLA in 2014. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor at the University of Hawaii and the Director of Field Education for the MSW program at California State University, Dominguez Hills. She has over 14 years of experience in working in community development, government, and non-profit agencies. Susan’s research interests include Critical Race Theory, community development, and social justice movements in the Asian American community.
