Donna Gibson McCrary, PhD, LMSW is a professor in the Social Work Department with Middle Tennessee State University. She has 19 years of experience in academia as an Assistant Professor, BSW Program Coordinator, MSW/BSW Offsite Program Coordinator and Field Coordinator, with Alabama A&M University in the Department of Social Work, Psychology, and Counseling. Donna McCrary completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Alabama A&M University and has a doctorate in Human Services. Dr. McCrary is a teacher, educator, researcher, and advocate in her community. She has several years of practice experience in child welfare, human trafficking, death, dying and bereavement and gerontology with an emphasis on Dementia. She has published numerous articles, and book chapters ranging from Challenges in Academia for African American Women, Dementia, Bullying, Domestic Violence, Mentoring, Homophobia, and Healthcare. She also volunteers as the Coordinator of her church Community Service Center where food and clothing, as well as, various community services are provided to the homeless and vulnerable populations.
