Rebecca Irwin is a Supervising Social Service Practitioner from the San Bernardino County Public Defender’s Office and a doctoral student at California Baptist University. She currently supervises the social service practitioners assigned to the Adult Divisions and has worked for the office for seven years. She graduated from California State University, San Bernardino with her Masters in Social Work with an emphasis in forensic social work, more specifically mental health and policing. She has conducted extensive research on police officers perception of mental health services specifically studying police officers within the California Highway Patrol. As a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University, Rebecca pursued a dual bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology and graduated with honors. She has also had the opportunity to attend the University of London, England. Rebecca has presented on issues such as stigma associated with mental illness, loss and grief, and the effects of community service on mood and interpersonal orientation.
