Colorado State University
Fort Collins, Colorado, United States
Dana’s career as a child welfare clinician supported her transition to higher education in 2007. Dana joined California State University Northridge to prepare graduate students of social work for their careers, through her role as the IUC Coordinator; the Los Angeles County specific branch of the IV-E Child Welfare program. This experience solidified her passion for professional development and field readiness for students studying social work.
In 2011 Dana returned to her Alma Mater, Colorado State University as a NCTSN funded clinician serving local families through Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Through this role, she continued with student training and supervision, which led her to a long-standing role in the School of Social Work as an Instructor and Academic Advisor.
Dana has been a full time Instructor for the last 11 years and in September 2021, was appointed as the Baccalaureate Program Director. Over the course of her tenure at Colorado State University, she has prioritized her own professional development every year, focusing on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice. Her passion for launching professional social workers who are stewards of anti-racist practices and centering Social Justice has created intentionality around continuous improvement in program content and delivery.
Her commitment and dedication to the social work student experience has been acknowledged through her award of CHHS Academic Advisor of the Year and through recognition by the Mortar Board Honor Society as a Teacher of Influence.
