Evan Choi received his PhD in social welfare from University of California, Los Angeles and his BSW and MSW from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea. He has over 12 years’ experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate students; formerly at University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Winona State University in Minnesota. His research focuses on socioeconomically disadvantaged families and their young children, advancing knowledge about the links among poverty, economic hardship, adverse childhood experiences, parenting stress, nonresident fathers’ involvement, and children’s health and development. He has been serving on research grants and contracts from the federal government, universities, and private and non-profit organizations, including U.S. Department of Agriculture, National 4-H Council, and Community Health Endowment. His work has been published in Journal of Affective Disorders, Child Abuse and Neglect, and American Journal of Health Promotion, and more.
