Beverly Araujo Dawson, MSW, Ph.D., is a Professor in the School of Social Work at Adelphi University. She received her doctoral and master's degrees from the University of Michigan and a BA in Psychology from Hunter College. Her research examines the intersection of racial and linguistic discrimination and mental health outcomes among Latino/a immigrant adults and children. More specifically, her research seeks to expand the understanding of the impact of discriminatory experiences on the mental health, the resulting stress, and the protective role of acculturation status for Dominican and Latino/a immigrants.
