Peter Maramaldi, PhD, MPhil, LCSW, MPH is the Social Work Alumni Fund Endowed Professor at the Simmons University School of Social Work with faculty appointments at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health in Social and Behavioral Sciences, and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Oral Health Policy and Epidemiology. Expertise in gerontology, health promotion, interprofessional teaming, and integrated healthcare delivery made him a leader behavioral health and reflects more than 30 years of practice, community organizing, and research experience with diverse populations in urban and rural settings. Dr. Maramaldi’s cross-cultural acumen is exceptional after 16 years in residence at the International House in New York City, developing and delivering comprehensive cross-cultural mental health services for over 700 graduate researchers, students and trainees representing more than 100 countries each year.
Since 2002, Dr. Maramaldi has consistent NIH and foundation funding collaborating extensively with national teams of addressing social determinants of health with patients, caregivers and the healthcare workforce. His studies include promoting cancer screening, addressing health disparities, testing intervention models using randomized clinical trials, developing and scaling quality improvement approaches using behavioral interventions, and developing cultures of quality to eliminate errors in outpatient dental treatment and surgery.
Dr. Maramaldi is a first-generation college graduate from Montclair State College in New Jersey with graduate degrees from Columbia University in New York City. He also has advanced training
certificates in management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and in mediation from the Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
