Dr. Quenette Walton is an Assistant Professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. Her research focuses on four areas: 1) Mental health and mental health disparities among Black women across the life course; 2) socioeconomic status (SES) as a social determinant of mental health; 3) the Black middle-class; and 4) mental well-being and wellness for Black women. The aim of her research is to develop an innovative culturally responsive intervention designed to improve the mental health of Black women. She is also a licensed clinical social worker with many years of experience in mental health clinical practice and administration. Dr. Walton received her PhD in social work from the University of Illinois Jane Addams College of Social Work, a Master's in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice, and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan.
