Dr. Sara Casali is an Assistant Professor and Director of Field Education at Concordia University Wisconsin. She is recent DSW graduate from the University of St. Thomas. Her doctoral research focused on studying intersectionality and social work education. Dr. Casali is the Co-Director for a $2.2 million Federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Grant; Opioid Impact Family Support Specialist Certificate Training Program.
As the Director of Field Education, Dr. Casali has formed positive working partnerships with community agencies across the State of Wisconsin and throughout the country in order to provide both her BSW and MSW students opportunities to learn and develop social work skills. She also teaches Field Education and Field Seminar classes within the MSW program.
Prior to Academia, Dr. Casali spent almost 20 years working within the child welfare system in Milwaukee County. She was both an ongoing case manager and a supervisor for contracted agencies within the Division of Milwaukee Child Protective Services. For over 14 years, she held a contracted position through the State of Wisconsin, as the Permanency Counselor at Children’s Court in Milwaukee, where she worked closely with all parties involved in the Termination of Parental Rights process. Currently, Dr. Casali completes court ordered Child Custody and Physical Placement Evaluations for Milwaukee County Family Court, where she has testified as an expert on the subject.
In addition to her DSW, Dr. Casali earned a MSW from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a BA from Marquette University.
