Natalia’s program of research focuses on the social and economic development of Latinxs in the United States with specific emphasis on the underserved populations: low-income, women, and Puerto Ricans. Specifically, her research focuses on evaluating whether patterns of mutual aid and cooperation practices among Latinx communities predict positive health and mental health outcomes. Through community-based research methods and policy analysis, Natalia strives to partner with communities to conduct research and build sustainable neighborhood driven interventions and policies focused on socio-economic development and health promotion among low-income communities. Natalia’s research seeks to explore and examine health, and economic policies and design community-level interventions that foster socio-economic capacities and, consequently—build healthy communities.
