Dr. Robin E. Gearing is a Professor at the University of Houston and Director the Center for Mental Health Research and Innovation in Treatment Engagement and Service (The MH-RITES Research Center). He also has extensive educational experience in the classroom, and practice as a clinical social worker in youth and family psychosocial and mental health treatment service. Dr. Gearing’s program of research concentrates in the areas of adolescent mental health service use and treatment interventions, with focus on serious mental illnesses and suicide in underserved populations. His research examines and seeks to build on improving treatment engagement, adherence, and developing evidence-based psychosocial treatment interventions for youth with mental illness and their families. In addition to other forums, findings from Dr. Gearing’s research have appeared in over 70 peer-reviewed journal publications.
